Plans for Kiel

This is what we´ll do in Kiel: Monday, 22nd Oct.: Workshop in Felde near Kiel in the "Felder Seegarten" , a local pub. We can begin in the afternoon or early evening. Closing time is 10 pm. Tuesday, 23rd of Oct.: Workshop in Flintbek near Kiel in the "Flintbeker Bahnhof" , a pub at the local railway station. No closing time known ;-) Both workshops will not consist of lessons, but as far as I understand Patrick´s concept, they´re about making music together - and we will make music together! Again: Both workshops/jamsessions are not only for experienced musicians but directly aimed at beginners or intermediates who want to make music together. Which music? Folkmusic, the kind Patrick shows in his videos, books and podcasts at his blog .

Es geht los, 2. Teil

As you can read on Patricks "blog" on his site (look for the text of Sept. 30th) he will go to Germany and afterwards back to Norway from where he will be leaving Europe. Sadly, there´s no time for the UK. I regret this very much because of Danny, Dick and the other guys from England and Scotland who expected him so much. But I think Patrick´s reason is very much ok. He cannot do half of Europe in two weeks. But Danny, Dick and the other guys? OK boys (and girls?)! We start a second project: It´s called "Let´s Haul the UK-Frailers to Kiel!" My encouragement to all of you who were eager to meet not only Patrick but the other frailers: Come over to Kiel! Workshops are arranged for Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd. You may arrive any time you like. There should be cheap flights from London/Stanstead to Hamburg/Lübeck. We could try to pick you up and bring you back from/to the airport (abou...

Schedule

To keep the english speaking world informed: I already worked out a schedule based on the cheapest flights. It depends on Patrick if he's willing to do all the travelling in the 2 weeks time he's over here. Because Danny seems to be away over the weekend I guess I can let u know that Patrick's flying in to Norway on the 15th of octobre and leaves on the 31st. Between these dates we're trying to get him over to Kiel and London - there are some pretty cheap flights by Ryanair. Let's see what happens over the weekend... It's a tough task to keep up to date what happens in the different movements, so the best way to keep informed is visiting this blog, Patricks blog and Dannys blog. the three links: http://tangiersound.wordpress.com (Patrick) http://madgeniusmusic.wordpress.com (Danny) http://banjo-kiel.blogspot.com (Wolfgang (the other DoD) and me) Cheers Daniel

Visiting Europe

Here you can see and hear Patrick announcing his visit to Europe and the idea behind free workshops, jams etc.

Es geht los, 1. Teil

Er schreibt u.a.: "As the German and UK groups start planning, keep in mind that not everything has to be some kind of organized workshop. Maybe there is something I can do to help a community like visiting a school, a hospital or playing at a church supper."
As I wrote, Patrick is going to Norway first, then Germany. "We" would fund the trip from Norway to Germany, some days here and the trip to UK afterwards. Daniel found out that there is a RyanAir flight from Oslo to Bremen at just 23,90 €. We will manage it, if there is enough interest in making music together! I always envied the US music scene for having so many sessions for folk musicians - even at beginner levels. Now we ´ve got the chance...
