The Darlings

Unfortunatly I only had my mobile with me to catch the awful performance of these four girls from Winipeg. Sound quality is really poor, but nonetheless the video should give you an impression of the band. Watch the terrific bass playing by Marie-Josée Dandeneau and of course the marvellous clawhammer by Allison de Groot (especially from 2:20 min on in the video while playing duet with fiddling Rosalyn Dennett). The voice of Vanessa Kuzina made it all perfect.

Ashokan Farewell

Während ich nach dem Text und den Akkorden für "Going to the Races" gesucht habe (Version von den The Crooked Jades ist excellent), stieß ich auf die Gitarrentabulatur für Ashokan Farewell
Anscheind ist es in D geschrieben und hat eine recht einfache, aber auch mal eine besondere chord progression (weiß jemand was "unusual vi - V7 progression, instead of the usual ii - V7" genau bedeutet?)
This could help for the Winterhude Stringband, oder, Uwe?

Trittau

Gerade habe ich erfahren, dass Oh My Darling beim EWOB ganz gut angekommen sind (bzw. sind sie regelrecht eingeschlagen). Sie machen einen Mix aus Oldtime und allem anderen, was gut ist.
Der Alte Bahnhof in Trittau ist wohl ein recht alternatives Pflaster - bisher konnte ich die Anfangszeit nicht finden.
Beim Schreiben dieser Zeilen erhalte ich aber grad die Mail vom Bahnhof: Anpfiff 19:30 h, "voraussichtlich".

Practice

After the eagle had passed and I had enjoyed my croissant (or two) I thought: "What is an eagle without banjo."
I took the banjo mute (for not to annoy the neighbours) and did some 3/4 and dropthumb practice. If it´s a known tune, it wasn´t planned. Just what came into my mind, reflecting the mood in the garden.

Home Is Where the Eagle Flies

Sitting int he garden having breakfast between flowers and shrubs my eyes suddenly spotted the eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla) doing his circles across the blue sky. That was when the above headline came into my mind. Could become the title of a song. Probably is already? John Denver? Anyway the image from Wikipedia perfectly shows what I just saw - except the smaller bird (Red Milan) was not there. Not yet.
